I narrowed my choices down to two rigs: FTDX-101D (100W version) and IC-7610. The Yaesu has a better, more powerful receiver but I like the Icom's display and waterfall better.The features of the new FTDX10 include: - 15 separate band pass filters. - Effective QRM rejection with the IF DSP (IF SHIFT/WIDTH, IF NOTCH DNF, DNR, COUNTOUR) - High-quality and super stable final amplifier utilizing the new push-pull MOSFET RD70HUP2. - Aluminum Heat Sink with 80mm low-noise axial flow cooling fan. I’ve had a number of requests to shoot a video series about the Yaesu FT-710 AESS, similar to my FTdx10 series. Ham Radio Outlet loaned me a Yaesu FT-710 AES...Shift doesn’t have its own knob, it’s managed via Twin PBT. Yeasu FTDX10 has dedicated Width and Shift knobs, which I prefer. The shift knob on FTDX10 is way too fine, though, if you turn it 90 degrees either side the shift value is some 50-60Hz only, so you need to keep turning that knob a lot.

Any radio in the top 20 is going to be good, but getting a radio in the top 4 is a pretty good thing! The FTdx10 is a Hybrid radio utilizing Roofing Filters and conversion whereas the FT-710, more like the ICOM IC-7300 is a true, straight, SDR radio.. Another difference is the FTdx-10 has CW Decode whereas the FT-710 is missing that feature, if you use it.
